2016 High School Senior Portrait Sessions

High school Senior portraits

Farewell, 2016.  I can’t say that I’m sad to see you go.   Last year was a challenging one (for most everyone but we won’t talk about that).  Personally, my photography business was put on hold for much of the year as we dealt with a household move and a very annoying ankle injury.  So, I am embracing 2017 and all new adventures it will bring.

The little time that I was able to focus on photography resulted in some beautiful sessions with amazing 2016 and 2017 seniors.  I’d like to share a few of my favorite portraits from 2016 high school senior sessions.

I continue to love finding unique spots in lovely outdoor settings where I can feature the individual personalities and talents of my senior clients.  They always shine and I am awed at the marvelous futures they are creating for themselves.

I’m looking forward to 2017 and all of the wonderful people that  I will meet.  If you’re interested in information about a photo session please drop me a line at Amy@AmyOHalloran.com.

Best wishes for a bright and happy 2017!

If you lose a memory card or (gasp) your camera- give the finder a way to return it to you! This easy tip may save you some heartache. http://www.amyohalloran.com/2015/06/save-yourself-some-heartache-a-photo-tip-for-all/
Whether you’re a professional photographer or just like to snap photos of your family losing a memory card is an agonizing experience.  Losing a memory card that is still in a camera is expensive and agonizing.

Several times these past months I’ve seen a photo shared on Facebook or Instagram with the caption “Help me find this couple/ family/ person.  I found their camera/ memory card full of photos and want to return it to them.”

I have a quick and easy tip that will save you some potential heartache if you lose your camera or memory card by giving the finder a way to return it!

Follow these four easy steps:

1. Open a new document on your computer- a Word doc, an email- it really doesn’t matter.  Type “If found please contact {Your Name}, {Your Email Address} and {Your Cell Phone Number}.  Enlarge the font to fill about half a page. You can also hand write this information on a piece of paper- just make sure it’s legible!

Find a memory card

2. Either- Print and take a picture of the print-out or take a picture of the computer screen with your camera.  Either way fill the view finder with the text.

Find your SD Card

3. Go into your camera settings and LOCK/ PROTECT the photo.  Select Protect Images.

Pro Photo Tip

4. Select the images you would like to protect.

Protecting the image will prevent it from being erased each time you download your photos and erase the images on your card.

Maryland Photographer tip

Copy and protect this photo on ALL of your memory cards.

That’s it!

Prince George’s County Senior Portrait Session

Today I’m sharing images from a wonderful photo session- but only half!  You’ll need to come back to see the rest- and you won’t be disappointed!

Penelope had a vision for her senior portrait session and it was a blast helping her achieve these amazing photos!  Our session started at the Naval Academy in Annapolis where Penelope looked amazing in every setting.

Anne Arundel County Senior Portrait Session

You’d never know it from looking at these photos that Shannon was nervous about our session!  This Broadneck 2015 Senior owned MY camera during her portrait session.  Shannon was a natural at posing- probably because she’s a talented dancer- which made my job so easy.  Shannon looked stunning in her floral dress and historic Annapolis was the perfect place for some photos!

I did  mention that Shannon is a talented dancer, right?  We made sure to capture a few photo at a local dock. The water was the perfect backdrop for her easy graceful poses

Shannon did a quick wardrobe change into this amazing orange jacket and fun striped scarf.  We headed to one of my favorite green spaces and, once again, Shannon was an amazing model!

I love it when my seniors bring something memorable to their session.  Shannon didn’t disappoint when she pulled out her Polaroid and we were able to incorporate it into some of our photos.

The day ended with a great sunset which we took full advantage of and got our last few amazing photos.

Anne Arundel County Senior Portrait Session

Normally I work one on one with seniors for their photo sessions but twins Sammie and Maddie really wanted their session together. I thought it was a great idea and we had a fun time taking photos and hitting some of my favorite spots around Annapolis.   We started in the historic downtown area and found a great spot for some fun shots.  I loved the brick drives, sidewalks,  and buildings that were our back drop.

I love to mix up a session with lots of location options.  We moved to a spot with lots of green space for the next part of our session. We were able to work in many pretty spots and a couple more outfits.

Ending my senior sessions with some great sunset silhouttes has become one of my favorite parts of the session.  The photos are always fun and it’s a great way to finish up a very cool day.
